I wanted to pick something that would allow each thread to be highlighted, and something that you could individualize. I decided on the Blue Velvet Inscription Sampler, by Blue Ribbon Designs:

Each square contains a hidden letter of the alphabet, starting with A in the upper left corner. The plan is to stitch one square with each of 2012's Thread Club exclusive colorways, filling up 24 of the squares. With 15 yards of each colorway, you'll also have enough thread to stitch the little diamond motifs between the squares, and the alphabet as well.

What about the last two squares? I'm calling those "incentive squares" - complete the first 12, upload a photo to our new Flickr group, and I'll send you 15 yards of your favorite thread, free. Complete 25 squares and get another free 15 yards. (Both offers expire December 31, 2013.)
You could also stitch each square as a little ornament, etc - the incentive still applies! As long as you've stitched 12 squares with Thread Club thread, I'll send you enough to make the 13th for free :)
Here's what you'll need to stitch the big sampler:
- Chart: Blue Velvet Inscription Sampler, by Blue Ribbon Designs. You can purchase the chart from your favorite LNS (mine is Acorns & Threads in Portland, OR).
- Fabric: a neutral linen/evenweave or aida- I'm using French Country Cashmere linen in 28 count. For 28 count, you'll need 21x24 inches, and for 32 count, you'll need 19x22 inches. I grabbed a 27x36 inch cut - I plan to use the extra for ornaments, etc.
- Thread: You'll need at least 15 yards of each colorway. I've added a 15-yard subscription option to the Thread Club subscription page, and for the month of December you can also purchase a 2012 Pre-Paid Thread Club subscription, and receive one month free. Current Thread Club members, please email me if you'd like to increase your subscription level.
